My thanks to the Committee and exhibitors for their friendly and welcoming reception, and for their unfailingly courteous acceptance of my placings. It made the experience of judging this wonderful breed really memorable for me, and I hope everyone there enjoyed their day as much.

VETERAN DOG
1st  Wisbey’s QINROSE JEDI KNIGHT. Compact body, good topline with high-set tail and clear eyes.Broad flat skull, well wrinkled on head and cheeks, frowning expression. Good bite and pigmentation.Moved smartly at a smooth trot with reach and drive which belied his age.
2nd Hogkinson’s CH. TIANSHAN VANILLA SKY FOR BULLPEI Also square in outline and a good mover, but I preferred the head details and expression of my winner, who also had more ring presence on this day.

MINOR PUPPY DOG
1st Grimshaw’s PEI-SHAR CHARLIE THE FAVOURITE.Lovely balanced head with moderate stop at the mid-point. Well padded blunt muzzle, well placed small triangular ears pointing towards eyes. Very square outline, good topline, breadth to chest and high tailset. Moderate rear angulation allowed smooth trot with good drive.Best Puppy Dog

PUPPY DOG
1st  Barratt & Clarke’s TIANSHAN SHINE GOLDEN SON. Compact body, good neck, balanced head with well placed ears and clear almond eyes and frowning expression.Strong balanced movement with no suggestion of over-reaching.

JUNIOR DOG
1st Webb’s CHIFIDO CAN’T STAND STILL. Good head and expression, skull broad and flat. Compact body with short strong loin. On the move looked good in outline but prefer slightly more breadth to chest and forequarters

NOVICE DOG
1st Howson’s SCREWBY DOO AT TAIROKO. Friendly, confident, attentive to handler, fit and well muscled. Good neck and tailset, but slightly long in loin and a shade narrow right through.

POST GRADUATE DOG
1st Bull & Warren’s STARFERRY ROCKET MAN. Very strong in head points with well placed ears, clear, dark, eyes and frowning expression, Well padded broad muzzle with correct bite and pigmentation.Chest with breadth and depth, carried head well on good neck, alert and confident showman.Bit short in lower thigh which spoilt angulation of hock joint and made rear movement a shade stilted.

LIMIT DOG
1st Jenkins’ IMZADI EMPEROR RISING. Well up to the task, attentive to handler, active and keen. Broad skull, no suggestion of eye problems, correct bite, teeth and pigmentation. Carrying a little extra weight which lost the neck, and less strong in movement than some.

OPEN DOG
1st Bayliss’ TIANSHAN SHINE ROCCO’S BABY. Very smart youngster, just the right size, with square outline, good neck and excellent tailset. Lovely horse coat, balanced head with dark eyes and very good earset and carriage. Alert use of head, confident showman and smooth balanced movement. Just held my attention with every appearance in the ring. Best Dog and BIS.
2nd Wisbey’s QINROSE JIMMY CHOO. Another confident and handsome showman, with proud head carriage.Good bone in forelegs and breadth & depth to chest. All three in this class had good teeth, bites and pigmentation. Smart outline and good movement, but I marginally preferred my winner on both matters. Reserve Best Dog

VETERAN BITCH
1st Jenkin’s IMZADI HEAVEN SENT. Great to see a lady of her years still with excellent teeth & bite and able to do a lap of the ring, though as befits her age and experience, she had firm views on where and how much.

PUPPY BITCH
1st Reynolds’ BULLPEI LADY DORA AT BIDDLE. Good breadth to head with excellent earset and frowning expression. Compact with good topline and tailset, proud head carriage, confident showgirl with brisk balanced trot. Best Bitch Puppy and BPIS.
2nd Bayliss’ TIANSHAN SHINE ON BLOSSOM. Very nice head properties, good neck, compact outline, but a little shy today and dropping her tail frequently. Bound to get better with experience.

JUNIOR BITCH
1st Wisbey’s BULLPEI IVORY LACE FOR QINROSE. Very promising youngster with real flair for showmanship and very good movement. All the proportions of head and body appear right, balance of skull and muzzle and chest depth to leg length. Body neither too large nor too long, loin short and strong, correct topline, tailset and head carriage.
Reserve Best Bitch

POST GRADUATE BITCH
1st Stephenson & Rees’ LOUPEI’S NO WOMAN NO CRY. Nice head carriage, keen showgirl, balance in length of broad, well padded muzzle and skull. Correct bite, teeth and colour, depth and breadth to chest. Correct topline and tailset, also balanced in outline and movement, compact feet.
2nd Lloyd’s JENTIKI MOET SUMMER WINE WITH SHARSOWN. Compact body, good topline and underline, skull broad and well wrinkled. Muzzle well padded, but a little weak in underjaw which altered the overall effect of the head and expression for me.

LIMIT BITCH
1st Webb’s TAIMOOSIE SMALL SURPRISE FOR CHIFIDO. Excellent head, proudly carried on a good neck, with perfect ear carriage, clean, dark eyes, frowning expression, broad well padded muzzle, good teeth, bite and pigmentation. Beautiful outline standing with compact feet and very high-set tail. Balanced angulation and movement making her a pleasure to watch going around the ring. Best Bitch and Reserve Best In Show
2nd Stephenson & Rees’ LOUPEI’S FLASH FREEZE. Attractive bitch with good bone, pleasing outline and balanced head, but in my humble opinion, just did not outclass my winner in many of the details listed above.

OPEN BITCH
1st Wisbey’s QINROSE CHANTILLY LACE. Preferred for square outline, correct topline, highset tail.Good head and eyes with wrinkle and frowning expression. My preference would be for slightly more neck length. Moved and showed well
2nd Stephenson & Rees’ HEADHOLME EVITA AT LOUPEI. Also square in outline, stocky in build, good topline. Again, moved and showed well.
